At, I asked the question "Is prefixing table names with "tab" a good idea?"

The general consensus amoung DBA at the best is that it is unnecessary. I also asked the question at,  there some point was seen to it by one contributor.

The post at has a poll that will take input from non-members of the SQL Central forum. So, what are your thoughts?

Please vote as to whether you think it is a good idea or a waste of time.

Actually, a more interesting question that often crops up is: Should table names be plurals or not? I.e. the Customer table or the Customers table.

..and don't get me started on the arguments over integer indentity columns vs. unique identifiers (aka Guid)!
